We are an incubator for community-based organizations and provide them with the expertise and resources they need so their developing programs can flourish. Through all of our work and the programs we serve, we annually improve the lives of over 2,000 chronically disadvantaged people.
The Job: The Staff Accountant supports the Finance Manager in financial compliance, AP/AR, grant and overall organization budgeting, internal controls, audits, and reporting in the accounting system. Brief Description of Job Duties:
Update and implement financial accounting policies as well as internal controls that align with audit feedback and organizational priorities
Maintain accuracy of General Ledgers, Accounts Payable and Receivables
Reconcile Bank Statements and Credit Cards
Prepare Month End Close materials for outsourced Accounting Team
Provide detailed financial information to Development Team for grant reporting
Maintain historical records by properly labeling and filing documents
Comply with federal, state, and local legal reporting requirements
Direct annual external audit, 990, and 1099 processing
Additional duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field
Ideally has 3-5 years of experience with general nonprofit accounting, bookkeeping
Experience with Quickbooks, complex nonprofit accounting system
Self-motivated, ambitious, excited to have variety in their role
Passion for working with vulnerable, low income or high need youth populations
Desire to learn and gain new skills and be a team player
Flexible demeanor with the ability to multi-task and change focus at any time
Ability to use Excel, Google, Microsoft Office, internet and email programs
